Start by offering less than whatever the asking price is - JUST DO IT - I used to sell cars ;^( they'll respect you for trying

tell them you've been to other dealers and your ready to buy TODAY if the right deal shows up

then

Ask for a free Extended Service Plan -
you can tell them "you said the bike is 100% perfect, so you should have no issue giving the ESP for free !"
just think of all the $ they already made off the former rental ... the $1500 ESP is like less than a weeks rental fee, and they probabally made $ 10,000 or more from renting it, worth trying ... (no esp - no deal - we know some people beat on rentals) you can always change you mind

then ask for a credit of $ 1000 for future MoCo upgrades from there parts and or service dept - in truth that $1000 cost them less than 1/2

look for scratches, dings, 1/2 worn tires, and SHOW them that's why you need to negotiate DOWN

then you can alway pay asking price

they're there to sell bikes, and YOU have what they want - $$

or just pay & go

No brainer, 11 Limited. Hate the side rails that cover the bags on the Ultra. Congrats on the new ride.

I would never purchase a rented vehicle, more so a H-D. 2011 Limited would be my choice but no way would I pay more than a '12 Ultra. The bike's already a year old.

I got an awesome deal on my '11 FLTRU a few weeks before the '12s hit the showroom floors.

I'd go with the Ultra. '12's now have the 103 motor. I can't see 2k for heated grips and a tour pack rack. Just my opinon....the limiteds do look very cool, but I'd rather save the 2k...actually, that's what I did when I traded my '03 Ultra for a new '11 Ultra a few weeks ago...

I bought a rental with 11,000...I wouldn't buy a rental again. my bike has 38K on it and I only put 27K on it.

Plus ABS, security, chrome wheels...well worth $2,000 if that's stuff you want anyway.

I wouldn't be scared of a rental bike if you can get an extended warranty with it.

You are right...I didn't factor in ABS and Security....that does make a difference
