I plug mine in every time it pulls into the garage. I read on here that someone did this and kept their battery for over 8 years. Thats amazing for a motorcycle battery.

I keep my on the tender all the time. Doesn't matter if I've been riding all day or not.

Is something going on here? Do you guys use a tender between rides? Do you pull the battery over the Winter?

Thanks for the help, guys.
My 2011 started doing this after about 800 miles on the odometer. I did have it on a tender all last winter and into the spring after rides. I have about 3K on it now and it still needs a extra sec or 2 to crank in the morning.

I have it back on the tender now to see if it makes any difference in starting. We have rain for the next few days so we'll see how it goes midweek

I'd like to answer this but I may put the Whammy on myself..
So here goes..
I have a buddy...2007 Electriglide (original battery)...it gets the trickle charger on it within a couple of hrs after "he" stops riding..
He left the ignition on once, not long ago..... (killed the bike with the stop switch but forgot to turn igniton off).
Bike sat for 2-3 hrs...but started right up..
I beleive he is getting his money worth out of the battery...

Mine's on a tender every night, winter, and summer. I ride nearly every day. No adverse effect on battery yet due to leaving it plugged-in at night.

All my battery related problems stopped when I stopped using battery tenders and "winterizing" my bikes in 2004. Currently have an 07 SG. It has never seen a tender or been "winterized". Between 04 and 07, I had a Dyna and did the same with that. When I'm done riding, I'm done riding. It goes in storage and when I want to ride again, I turn the ignition on and push the button. Never failed to start.

If my bike is going to sit for a while (bad weather, traveling), I'll plug it in during riding season to keep it charged. I leave my battery in over the winter and just keep it plugged in as it is stored in a garage.
