I live in hot Central Florida and my battery is 7 years old. I use it about every 3rd day during riding season and more often in the winter.

Since my bike has security,I plug it is as soon as it goes into the garage. My wife plugs hers in if she isn't going to ride for a day or two.

what is this "riding season" you speak of??????

I do however use a tender on both bikes year round, and it's hot here most of the year so it helps IMO to keep battery life going

THe "season" here (NY) is Mid-March to Mid-November weather permitting.. If I hit black-ice on the way to work in the morning I know it's time to put away or I took it out too early

There is a place due north of you, some call it the great white north, I hear tell that the ground may stay frozen for 6 months or more every year. When the people can not ride their motorcycles they take up other activity such as snowmobiling, ice fishing, and skiing.
I would prefer to hibernate.

I use a battery maintainer always. There is no question about it, they work.

The bike is plugged in during the winter, during riding season I keep looking at that red light on the tender and intend to unplug it, but never get around to it.
