Default Supertrapp FATSHOTS

02flhtci, 95 big bore, worked over heads, 21g andrews cams, power commander, ,with V&H slip 4" slash cut round slip ons. had dyno and custom mapping done, 80hp 90tq no back firing on decel with the custom mapping.
Just installed a full sac dual exhaust got the popping back on the decel,
took off power commander and now have stock ecm with stage 2, going to try and get another map from powercommander.

got a set of fatshots ST. tried them with the 12discs the amount that comes with the fatshots, way to quiet (sounded like the bike had asthma) got recommendation to try the open end caps or more discs, tried the racing cone shape end caps (had to buy these) tried with 8 discs, to loud, then 6, then 4, all still to loud, if I remove the discs and go with just the racing end cap what would be the point of the fatshots????

(I spent more money) got a 12 pack of discs, then went to 18 discs per side, still fairly quiet and have the understanding that anything more than 18 discs will flow more than the core??? and I would also have to buy longer screws?

No way did 6 or 4 discs with racing end caps come even close to sounding anything like the 18 discs with the closed end caps, the 18 and closed caps is a lot quieter (the racing end caps are supposed to be 10-12discs worth) ...Did I do something wrong????

I should have done a little more research to find out how many discs I may of
needed, of course ST will be glad to sell you more discs or the racing end caps (cone shaped) and screws and the grease etc....so far very dissatisfied with the fatshots trying to find a happy medium? and sick of spending money.
Any suggestions??? seriously thinking of pulling them and going with the V&H monster ovals.

The best place to go for questions on the Fatshotz is here. http://forums.supertrapp.com/

I read a lot of the questions and answers, learned a lot and posted one myself. The Supertrapp staff will answer your questions.

You never really stated what your desired end results are?

Type and volume of sound, performance, both ???

I have a set of Fatshots on my '08 RG. Stage 1 with V&H True duals. 16 discs per muffler with closed end caps. Sounds like a glass pack to me, but I can cruise and hear the radio. As another indicated, go to ST forum, they can tell you what you need to get your desired results.

with the endcaps, the point of the supertrapp disc system is that at reduced sound levels, they flow more or equal to other mufflers

the open end cap is equal to about 10 discs.

fatshots are made by supertrapp to S/E's specs- so similar but not identical to supertrapp brand. I use the supermeg mufflers

on my 96" bagger I run 18 discs rt/12 lt closed caps
on my 80" bagger 15/9 closed caps
on my hi po 80" FXR 2/1 header 30 discs, closed caps.

those are the disc numbers that work best for my tuning, on long trips with the baggers, I add a few more discs for more top end power.

thanks for the replys, I did go to supertrapp forum,
I'm not trying to knock ST, the chrome finish and quality of the fatshots is top notch and apologize if my 1st post came off that way.(just cornfused, my own fault)

Trying to find a happy medium between the open/racing end caps sound wise vs the 18 discs with the closed end cap, maybe I'm looking for something that dosent exsist? Once again thanks for the advice.

well the top secret is white brothers ( RIP) snuf "r" not ends caps
Closed end caps that open with the turn of a screw.

Hard to find.

if you zoom in on the photo, you can see a set

Was looking at the racing (cone shaped)end caps last night and started thinking the same thing, maybe I can start using various size washers against the outlet, (on the inside) until I get the desired sound I'm looking for and then make it permanent....
