I went ahead and checked the two hex bolts on the front side of the oil FILTER and indeed they were loose. I tightened them (quote)

How in the hell did that bike get out of their Service Dept with those bolts LOOSE!!!!!

I have no idea, I rode it trouble free for the first 1K. After I got the 1K service all my trouble started.

I rode it 27 miles today (to work and back) and once again noticed the fluid on the cam case. I went ahead and checked the two hex bolts on the front side of the oil FILTER and indeed they were loose. I tightened them tonight and will spray wash the area tomorrow morning then ride it hard after work to see if that solved the problem. I will let yall know. Thanks again for the help.

Glad to see YOU fixed it, but it sucks that it goes to two dealers and still something so simple does not get fixed, sickening and scary, also power to this forum and the internet, i fixed more stuff from using google!

Good luck!

I just changed the oil and filter at 5k miles and developed a leak. It wouldn't leak for a trip or two and then it would leak a few drops, then stop for a trip or two and then leak again. Traced it down to the oil filter area. Took it off, cleaned it and cleaned the bottom of the bike and cranked it up and it is still leaking from the filter area. I took it off again and the top of the filter ring that seats to the engine is good but when rubbing my finger around the ring, it feels like there is a high spot on the filter itself under the rubber o-ring. I think I have a defective filter. And yes I did all the normal stuff, cleaning the part where the filter goes with brake parts cleaner, oiling the top o-ring on the filter, tightening hand tight then turning an extra half turn and later 3/4 turn and still later a full turn. It still leaks. Maybe those hex screws are my problem too. I will check it out tonight and THANKS for the info guys.

OK I checked mine and they are tight. Very tight so that's not my problem. I am pretty sure mine is a bad filter and will replace it tomorrow and see.

It's hard to believe how incompetent some dealer service departments have become.
