Default I think Ive done my homework, but need to make sure!

So I have a 2011 Street Glide 96. My problem is it pings like no one's business under any type of acceleration. Sounds like Im winning high score in a pinball machine under my legs. Now the only change i made was I put V&H Twin Slash slip ons on. I never changed anything else at the time because I was told I wouldnt have to, everything would adjust itself. So, now Ive looked into it and from what Ive read on here Im thinking this sounds like my solution:

1. I change over to jackpot headers to get rid of the cat and heat.
2. Add a Stage 1 A/C for more air
3. Get a PC5 from Fuel Moto to adjust fuel/air mixture to get rid of ping from bike starving for fuel.

I plan on keeping the slash cuts for my pipes and just plugging them into the packpot headers.

Does that sound like a solution to those running issues?

Sounds like a good plan.
Happy with my FM set up.

That's an excellent combination, and especially good since FuelMoto's customer support is the best in the business. FuelMoto will supply (and load) a custom map for your configuration that will bring that motor to life!

in my case pinging was solved with XIEDS ( $125 shipped plug and play).

but yours may be more severe - I'd get it in for warranty service first while you can, persistent pinging will burn a hole in your pistons- burn up the combustion chamber etc.

---- and the changes you are considering would probably make any warranty claims void.
( with the XIEDS, you can just unplug them before going into the dealer)

In my case pinging occurred at 2800-3200 rpm on 6% grades. It was repeatable.
And occurred in completely stock trim.
nightrider.com XIEDS solved that, and allowed me to switch to a high flow air cleaner ( Ness BS) and performance exhaust. Mileage was for the most part unaffected, 44 mpg or so when touring
An easy low cost solution.

Mike

I agree with the taking it to the dealer for warranty work first, it should not ping with only a muffler change, there may be another problem ...otherwise the setup you are looking at looks great...

Sounds like you're exactly on track. I'm very happy with my Fuel Moto tune. As mentioned, great products and about the best customer service in the business.

Here is a thought, put the stock mufflers back on and bring it to the dealer for WARRANTY service. If you think that a different headpipe is going to solve a detonation problem you are wrong. Mufflers will not change your A/F ratio beyond what the ECM can adjust. Bring it to the dealer before you burn a hole in the pistons!!!!!!!

first are you running super, octane 92-93 if not you should be and are you getting your fuel at a cheap no name station.some fuels are junk.try shell or mobil.if all fails bring it to the dealer.as far as fuel moto great choice,i have fuel moto stage 1 a/c,jackpot 2-1-2's,4" rineharts and pc-v with 2 maps i had to adjust 0% throttle from 1750 -6000 with + 20 to get rid of decel pop but its runs fine now.

mine was a pinger from hell.
went to 2 into 1 exhaust, had better midrange, sounded great but still ran lean and had issues with pinging. I added a big sucker a/c, XIED and synthetic oil. Its like riding a whole new bike... Problem cured.
