Default Harley 110 heads interesting info

so after seeing an apparent flood of 110 heads on ebay over the last few years, decided to dig a little deeper on this. Turns out there was a recall on 07 and 08 heads. Not all 110 heads but some that met a particular criteria. So, now if you decide to buy 110 heads with a -07 part number you have to wrestle with having to figure out if the heads in question where take offs because they met the recall criteria.

Thanks! I wondered about that.

Was it something about head gasket failure on the rear jug?

I think the consensus on the head gasket failure was attributed to the cylinder lining shifting up in the cylinder and putting pressure on the head gasket. I've never heard of a recall on the 110 heads. Not saying there isn't one, but maybe the OP can post the recall information?

The guides fall out and I don't know why but after they do that it's hell trying to get them to stay in ever again. That's why HD didn't want the recalled heads back from the dealers, this is second hand info keep in mind.

Your right....it was a valve guide problem....and Harley did not want the heads back...so they appear on ebay as dealer take off low mile super duper heads for 500+ bucks.

The valve guides will slip under high rpm and heat conditions.

Any chance oversized valve guides like you'd do in an automobile would solve this problem?

I was told by Mike Lozano, Lozano Bros. Porting that the 110 heads make good boat anchors. He said that they don't flow and he can't improve it much. A stock head that has been reworked is a better choice.
