Default Is this normal for a Mustang backrest?

Does the rider backrest mount normally push the back of the seat forward like this? Seems like it would wear a hole in the seat in short order. I'm not talking about the chrome backrest bracket, but the black bracket that bolts to the fender.

Don't know if that's normal for your seat, all I can say is I have the Mustang Super Touring Seat with a rider backrest and it doesn't push like that at all.

Looks like the bracket is reversed. Where's the adjustment ****? Maybe it's different from the Mustang seats that I've owned but somethings doesn't look right. Call Mustang, their customer service is excellent.

Default Backrest

I've had mine on a stock 2011 FLHX seat & two mustang seats and it doesn't do that on any of them.

Like a post above, it just doesn't look like it's assembled right.

The backrest itself is different than the one I have on my Valkyrie. It does seem backwards, but it's actually a good thing since it doesn't push me forward as far. And it's comfortable, just a little awkward to adjust.

But my question was about the black mounting bracket. It seems like it's pushing forward on the seat much more so than it should. It seems like it would wear a hole in the seat quickly.

I also have the backrest on my SuperTourer and don't have that issue. I didn't even buy the seat with the backrest, picked up the Mustang backrest at a later date.

Have a Vintage Solo with the same backrest and from what I see here I'm going to have to say that something is backwards. Looks to be that the adjustment screw is on the wrong side and this is causing the seat to be pushed forward.

Have you tried reversing the adjustment screw to the rear of the backrest?

After looking at the pic's of the solo with the backrest on I see the problem.

The adjustment screw is backwards. It sould be on the other side and above the crossbar. See the pic below.

That's part of the problem, but the other is the lower mounting bracket appears to be too far forward or leaning that way too much. Is that a HD seat or Mustang?
