Angry no international shipping-whats up with that

I have been trying to purchase a king tour pak from the USA. The difference in price from Canada to USA is $ 300.00. The dealers that I have talked to have said that they are not allowed to ship Harley Genuine Parts outside of the USA. I thought that we had free trade between the two countries. Apparently not. Seems funny that we all ride Harleys, all need or want the same parts and accessories but there seems to be two different Harley Companies, one south and one north. I thought that competition in business was good for everyone.

That's the new HD MOCO policy that went into effect a little while ago. You're better off to get a person in the states to ship it to you. Best bet is to call a dealer and purchase it over the phone and say "so and so" will be in to pick it up. Then have "so and so" ship it to you.

Just get it shipped to an address in ND, and go pick it up yourself.

The CDN distributor has a stranglehold on the CDN market, pricing etc.

as suggested get it to a Pal in the US.

The problem is getting it across the border, if it looks "brand new" even mounted on your bike CDN customs- may start asking questions. They have seen it all.

"Free-Trade" yeah right...what a bills of goods that was!

Ballbreaker, I feel your pain, as we have the same thing going on here to. The dealers here jumped up and down that they were losing money because people were buying internationally. Eventually they complained that hard that the moco stopped all international sales. Its actually been a policy in the USA for some time but not until 1st of August has the HD USA enforced it on their dealers. There is away around this so pm me if you want to know.

A few American dealers on eBay had the warning about the 1 August deadline so I bought all that I could afford before that date, I saved about $70 on a seat buying from the USA.
Maybe our dealers should just try to be more competitive in their pricing, but why bother when they can charge all they want in the new Canadian HD monopoly.
