Default Been thinking about switching over

Ive been riding my Sportster for a little over two years now. I really love it and its great for cruising around town, and I've even taken it for some long rides.. Which by my standard so far is 6 hours of constant riding. It works well, but I can't help but want something more comfortable. That and the carrying capacity doesn't hurt either. I realize I'll have some trade offs, but I really fell in love with a 2011 SG in the white denim color. Not that I would buy one any time soon, but the thought has been going over in my head for a while now to step up in a few years or so. Reasons to/not to?

Take it for a test ride and sign the papers. If you can afford the payments go for it. Payments will be your only downside. You will wonder what took you soo long

How is it going from a non fairing bike to one with one? I don't really know anybody who rides a touring model so it's hard to ask lol

Rent one for a day, let your gut decide. If you read through this forum - you rarely find anyone regretting making the tour-bagger's move from the other non-touring lines HD offers. Take my advice, go rent one you like, for day.

You don't have to jump all of the way up to a Batwing. Why not check out a Heritage, or a Dyna? If you watch the classifieds, there are some good deals on here.

Virtual Norm is selling an 03 Dyna for 7k in classified section, right now. Saddlebags solve your lunch problem, and gas savings would would make your payment for you , right now. I have 4,300 mils on my bike. I've already saved $500 in gas in 3 months, over using my 16mpg truck, and a $150 a month could pay for the bike. Go for it, now!

If youre not ready to buy, dont try one yet!

I have a 2011 XL1200C. Love the bike, Its fast and nimble and a whole lot of fun.

I was at the dealership one day with the sportster and the sales guy was outside rolling bikes out to the lot. He says "hey, you ever ride a big twin"? Nope, was my answer,,,,Never rode anything bigger than my 1200. Within the first 10 miles of riding a roadking I was asking myself what the heck am I doing on a sportster?

I now have a 2004 electra glide AND my sportster!

I traded my 2002 883R for a 2009 Electra Glide Classic...I wish I could have kept the Sportster for a second bike...I love the glide and and all of it's comfort and touring advantages...But I do miss the Sportster at times...I think you will know you made the right choice with the Street Glide...But be prepared to miss the Sportster if you trade it in.
