Will it hurt to wipe the grease away from the outside of the bearing? I want to clean it up and see if it comes back.



So judging by these responses the bearing should be as dry as the day it left the showroom (on the outside)


I suppose it could be from the axle as well but seems to be a bit on the bearing itself

 

Sure won't hurt to wipe it clean, the grease isn't doing any good on the outside anyway....
