Got back last night - wow, and I mean WOW! Tons of great roads! Did not have enough time! Dragon was better than I expected - 28, as someone mentioned is hot too! Did 441, small part of the BRPW and a VERY small portion of Cherohala Skyway - we have to go back. Saw two falls, wanna see more. 2 days was not enough time to do what we wanted to do.

Will not stay anywhere NEAR Pigeon Forge next time - I think Maggie Valley would be a better place.

If ya wanna see my photos

if you want a GREAT place to stay, Robbinsville NC. Two Wheel Inn. we stayed there in 08 for 10 days and the folks that own the place are incredible hosts. There are storage rooms in between each room with a large door that you can easily fit 2 baggers in each one.

really close to dragon, CSW, BRPW, Fontana Dam, Maggievalley, Smoky Mountains Nat'l Park

if I HAD to do the dragon again (which I never will), I think i'd find some place to rent a sport bike or dual-sport. This road is not for baggers unless you like riding at 5MPH

I've not ridden the Dragon, but rode 221 out of Blowing Rock, NC last week. My old 2001 EGC loaded to the gills with stuff and the wife was a handful. I agree, those twisties are tough on a baggar. At least on me they are.

Not necessarily. I have a great time every time I go, and I certainly don't ride that slow. I do, however, set my own pace and pick my own lines through the whole stretch. It's great fun, and throwing some sparks from floorbaords is part of the fun, too.

Even when I get stuck behind some guy riding the whole thing on his new Street Glide in first gear, I still manage to have fun. And I don't know why, but it invariably is a Street Glide holding me up most of the time. I guess the newer H-D riders trend toward those now?

I agree, sparks from the floorboards is cool. I use any where from 1st to 4th gear. Don't really get a chance for 5th and 6th on the Dragon.
I went through last year on my 08 Ultra and had it screaming like a crotch rocket.

Default 5 mph

Not necessary to go slow on a bagger. Check out the Wing.....

Big difference in the ground clearance and lean angle on a wing then on an Ultra.........
