I just got back this morning....... I hope you have a better time then me....

1)Condo was hard to get to and find.
2)Saw two semi's on the tail, one I came face to face to in a blind corner but missed him by about an arm's length......
3) A buddy of mine went down on the tail on the last switchback going back out of the tail. He got two broken ribs, a punctured lung out of the deal.
4) Pretty much got rained out from Sunday to this morning on our way back..

Other then that it was fun.......

You must stop at Wildcat Harley in Kentucky exit 41............ Best dealer I have been to hands down. If you go tell Charlotte at the front desk you heard she was really the devil, lol she is a hoot......

Went through the Dragon Friday. That first curve way after and before the BBQ place was a suprise.
Left S. Central Tn. Mon. morning in the rain. Gave up short of Knoxville and got a room. Left Tues morning and rode in the rain back to the house. Hope to not use my Long Ride Shield in the rain any more.

Got back Sunday from 10 days (Aug 26 - Sept 4) doing the Skyline Drive/Blue Ridge Parkway top to bottom and then bottom to top with 4 days in the Cherokee NC area in between. 2300 miles with the wife. Enjoyed the Blue Ridge ride the most, least traffic and best sweeping roads. Did the Dragon, Moonshiner28, Cherohala Skyway, 441 thru GSM park and several other roads in including 64 and 276 on our waterfall day. We got rain on 3 days, only part days each time "in Virginia all three times", but overall it was a great ride. Looking forward to doing it again next year. The week before labor day was a good time to do this area/ride as there was almost no traffic. Even the Dragon was very little traffic with only about 30-40 bikes at Deals Gap on Tuesday. I can recommend the Harrah's Hotel in Cherokee if anyone has any comps from the Harrahs casino chain. We got 3 nights free and the 4th night was $69.00 Nice rooms, covered parking garage and of course the Casino is there if you have any extra cash to spend.

rode this back in 08 on a roadking and I agree with one of the posters above; once you've done it, why torture yourself again. This road is extremely too dangerous solely because of the other idiots on it. Our week up there entailed being caught up in a mazda miata club running the dragon. Those folks were ok, it was the jackass in the red ferrari who ran me off the road in a 5MPH turn (luckily there was about 3 foot of shoulder before the 2000' drop)
Anyways.. there is a road that runs almost parallel with the dragon (at least for a good ways) called Hellbender. Now that my friends was a FUN road to travel. Long sweeping curves with a few 10 MPH curves. Don't let the long sweeping curves fool you though.. they tighten up REAL QUICK but it's a fun road and a lot more safe than the dragon is.
