Gotta go with Gerbings if you want to stay comfortable. I have the gloves and jacket and never found the need for the pants even when temps were in the teens.

I favor the Olympia textile gear. It's reasonable in price, high in quality, and very versatile. In my sig pic, I am wearing their AST 3/4 length jacket and overpants. Each comes with a zip-off quilted liner and is totally waterproof. I'll often match the jacket with my Gerbings heated jacket liner and Gore-Tex gloves and boots. No such thing as "too cold to ride" with the proper gear!

With the Gerbing liner's I wont have to dress up like an eskimo, or santa clause either. I deserve to experience this kind of warm ridding. All of my ridding years I have rode till the shakes got to bad to go on. I really like the looks of the 3/4 length olympia. But I wonder if it gets crammed up in the back above the seat? Many thanks for the help.

I have been using the Tourmaster Synergy stuff for three years now. Heated gloves and jacket liner. Quality stuff, individual thermostats that come WITH the gear and fairly priced IMO..I got it on a big sale at motorcyclesuperstore.com

Default What winter gear

Sounds like the plug-in heated vests, jackets, gloves is the way to go for you "NOrtherners". I do take an annual "Trek" up north to Ohio and PA, in the fall by way of the BRP, but the heated grips on my Limited seem to get the job done in September/early Oct.

I ride year-round including a 50 minute commute each way. My system is something like this:

Under 65-70deg: Jacket, light gloves
Under 50-55 deg: Leather Jacket, Chaps or Snow board pants, med gloves
Under 40 deg: above, with heavier gloves, snowboard pants, sweater or sweatshirt, full face helmet
Under 30 deg: above, but with gerbing heated gloves, baclava under full face helment
Under 20 deg: above, with long johns, gerbings heated socks.

I will probably get a jacket liner sooner or later, and would like to get boot inserts vs. the heated socks. I find the electrics are great, but a bit of a hassle as far as getting wired up. I avoid the hassle if I can stay comfortable.
