IF it was me in that situation I would trade it in. There is nothing you will ever do with your current ride that is going to make you feel confident in it as a daily rider.
Just the simple fact, your not going to shake that nagging feeling till you get another ride.

Does your bike get you from A to B as well or better than before? If so, keep what you have. Give it a good detail.

Every year marketing churns the customer base.

Well i decided to go for the trade in. i went to SD Harley and spoke with Larry. they only had one 2012 on the floor which surprised me. of course i was a day late for the best looking paint on an Ultra. the day before they had in a blue and black combo bike which in my opinion is the best looking bike Harley painted for the 2012. the 2012 they had was all black.

now i know from experience and from reading on the forum that the black bikes are the best looking bikes when cleaned. however keeping that way.... well as Tony S would say, "Forget about it." so im waiting for my color to come in.

we ran the numbers and i will be getting 16K for my bike, after paying mine off, that will give me 11K down. the payment will be an extra 50 bucks a month more than what im paying now. that extra 50 bucks will give me the new frame, wider tire, the 103 and ABS. i was comfortable with that.

so now im waiting for a phone call from Larry. ill let you guy know when i pick up my new ride.

I'm assuming where you live you can ride year round. That wouldn't work for me where we have 4 seasons and winters and spring thunderstorms can be nasty. Not a lot of fun riding to work in the rain or snow.

I'd have to agree with Dawg. I'd keep what you have and do what's necessary to make it reliable. I didn't notice where you live, but personally I wouldn't chance being on time to work every day riding my bike... weather, cagers, etc. Get a "beater" and you'll have more steel wrapped around you to protect you. Now with that said, it's a promotion and more money... Can't be sure at this point IF you'll like it or IF the new job will work out. Don't put the cart before the horse... If in a year things are working out really good, then IMHO that would be the time to look at trading in your bike. ALl I'm saying is Play It Safe.

not sure what "trade in means".

a.) trade in an 08 and get 8K value on a 22K 2012 purchase and finance 14K at 12% for 5 years with a payment of 325 per month plus full coverage insurance of X.

b.) Vs buying a new car for 20K at .9% for 5 years with a payment of 341 per month plus full coverage insurance.

If you do option B, for the same money, you have your bike and a car.
if you do option A, for the same money you have a bike and no car.

So, do you need a car and a bike, or just a bike and no car.

When in doubt, always go for the new bike.

It sounds like your '08 isn't something you're in love with anyway. Get what you want.

I was having similar feelings about my 2004 Ultra (without the tightening) so I pulled the trigger on a 2012 Limited. The difference in the ride is WORLDS apart. Glad I did it. So my bike (43,000 miles) and 14 grand got me out the door. And thats from the Land of Taxes, Illinois. Tax rate 10.25%.
