Tell the salesman to knock off some bucks because the bike is used or have him order you a NEW ONE.

The PDI manual that the dealer is supposed to follow specifically outlines and states test riding the vehicle as part of the PDI and getting the vehicle up to operating temperature in order to check the oil, etc. I would say the fella with 1 mile on it got an improperly PDI'd vehicle. Most I've seen have 7-15 miles on them.

ex ninjadude,

There is usually about 4 miles on a new bike unless when they test drive it the engine starts smoking then they do an extra 5 mile test.

Sounds like that particular bike had a real engine smoke problem and they had to do 3 extra test runs.

I would not even give a second thought to 19 miles. Buy it, ride it and just enjoy the heck out of it.

Good luck.

Seems a bit high but don't sweat it. Enjoy the new ride and forget it. You'll have another 500 on it before you know it anyway.

..that's 19 less miles you have to ride until the 500 mile break-in is completed...when you can start beating the snot out of it!!!...relax-enjoy-ride..it's still a new bike, no one will know..

7 seems to be the normal number I see around here.

Mine had over 50 on it when I bought it but I put all but the 7 on it on test rides before I bought it.

Also put about 50 miles on a new RGC that someone else ended up buying.

My 08 Heritage had 8 miles on it. My 11 Limited had 4 miles on it. I've seen several NEW bikes with 15-50 miles on them. Test rides are given on new bikes if they don't have a rental to put people out on. I sure wouldn't worry about it but if you can use it for gain, what the hell.

I talked to a fellow that worked in the factory, they don't actually ride them there, his job was to test every bike on the dyno. I don't remember but I think he put around 2 miles on them. I suppose if there was a problem they would have to fix it & test it again. I purchased a new '99 FLHT, picked it up (hauled it) when it came in Dec. '98, it was winter here in Alberta. It had 2.3 miles on the odometer, the dealer obviously didn't take it for a spin.
