Supertrapp 2-1 vs Fatcat 2-1
Between the Supertrapp 2-1 or the Fatcat 2-1..........which one gives the best performance?
How does the sound of each compare to the other?
I like that the Fatcat is available with the falsee to keep the ***-end balanced, too bad the Supertrapp isn't.
Thanks,
Steve

RE: Supertrapp 2-1 vs Fatcat 2-1
I have the Supertrapp 2/1 and have dyno charts to prove the power difference.
I have run the D&D fatcat, the Thunderheader, and the Supertrapp, out of the three the Supertrapp makes the best power and is quiter than the others. I do like the D&D for the sound and the false, it would be my second choice.
I'll try to scan the dyno charts and figure out how to post pic and charts

The FatCat's are louder and don't make quite as much torque.

In very crude "lei person" terms (appologies in advance for brutalizing the science here)..... A pipe will have performance characteristics that directly follow a signwave. For example, some pipes have a tendency to deliver torque (as you read a, from left to right, as RPM increases) in a "low, high, low" pattern, meaning that the torque curve is highest in the center. Other will deliver torque just the opposite, or "high, low, high", meaning that they are strong very low and droop a little in the center and then come back up towards the high end.
The SuperTrapp (much like the old WhiteBros E-Serise) is a good and very tunable pipe that delivers peaks in the center and is lower both early and late.
The D&D is the opposite. It is very strong early and dips a little and then comes back up on the high end.
If you look closely at several dyno sheets you will begin to see this tendancy. It is more pronounced on some than it is on others.
There is an EXCELLENT exhaust comparison that was done for several Buell exhaust at this location: ftp://ftp.americansportbike.com/outg...est_Report.zip . If you take the time to read through all of this, it might help clarify some of what I tried to say.
I had an E-Series on my first RG and it was a great performing pipe, but it sounded like ****. I bought a FatCat when they were 1st released and have never looked back. I have a 2nd FatCat now on my new RG.
I, too, have played "chase the pipe" and had ProPipe, E-Series, ThunderHeader, and 2 FatCats. "To me" it's the best there is.
Here's a sample dyno sheet that can be compared to some that others will undoubtedly post. The red trace is the FatCat.

Steve are you really thinkin about gettin' rid of those beautiful rineharts? I thought I had a bad exhaust system addiction, but you have got me beat!

I'm really not sure what I'm going to do. I love the looks and sound of the Rineharts, but I know I'm going to leave a bit on table in the power department. By going to the Supertrapp 2-1, I'll gain some power.......... and the looks are good, but my major hang-up is the 1 pipe out the back. Everything on a bagger rearend is symetrical, and by removing 1 muffler you throw off the visual balance.
That is where I'm at right now...........totally undecided.
