Iron Cross & My Decision
#22
From communicating with the fine folks at Iron Cross Audio, they are the ones who got HD to modify the clamp bolts due to them damaging the HK radios.
I pulled mine out today and sure enough, two gouges on the bottom of the radio where the bolts have been hitting. In fact the radio was sitting on top of the two bolts with no space in between.
Really, only the two forward bolts need to be replaced or the heads ground down some. If I can't get to a dealer for the bolts before my radio comes back from Iron Cross, the Dremel's coming out for a grind down party.
Another issue where we have to buy parts and pay to repair a HD screw-up!!!!

Funny... but I had to have the radio repaired by them and they told me about the bolt heads too. sure as heck when I installed the radio the one bolt head was touching it. They didn't mention anything about the new bolts but I will pick those up. The tightening sequence mentioned would work too I think as well. Being that I was too lazy to do that or too dumb to know about the new bolts I just ground down the bolt head a lil. It will do till I get time to fix it properly. Like the OP I was on the fence about going after market. Iron Cross does a good job and fast turn around. If it lasts me then it was worth the money. Had them had some pre-amp out puts and a rear aux too.
