Default Cost of Harley ECM Download

I'm going minimalist on my new bike -- pipes, AC and factory download. (I've heard all the arguments about after market tuners so we don't need to rehash them.) Went by my local dealer and was quoted $200.00 for the download!!! What should the download cost and does anyone know of a dealer in the Phoenix area that doesn't want your first born in return for five minutes of work?

Sounds about right. Mine was about 180.00 if I remember here in Upstate NY.

Took them all of about 20 min from time they drove it off to bringing it back.

Ka-ching, ka-ching! The only thing that download accomplishes.

I was quoted right around $150. There is a fee for the software itself and the dealer gets an hour labor to download it from HD and upload to your ECM.

In 2002 I paid $149 for the download and $50 for "shop time" to actually load it. Thought it was crazy then, still think it's crazy...but it is what it is. If that's what you want, HD has ya by the low hanging fruit.

I know you said don't get into it but for about $51 more (including premapping and shipping), you can get a Fuel Moto EFI Tuner....it's a rebranded Power Commander III usb. This way you have the option for future upgrades without paying for another download. Yeah, HD will get you then too.

About 2 months ago at Earl Smalls Harley Davidson (Smyrna, GA) I was quoted 1/2 hour labor ($42.50) and $150 for the Stage I download and they offered to set it up for the next day. That's $192.50, so what you heard sounds about right for my neck of the woods. On the other hand, I was quoted over $400 at Killer Creek Harley Davidson in Roswell, GA with almost a 5 week wait to get it done...
