Default Bad gas mileage

i have an 05 FLTRI with 95 inch kit screamin eagle slip on mufflers se 211 cams k&n filter and race tuner.(THIS SETUP HAS BEEN IN THE BIKE FOR AS LONG AS I HAVE OWNED IT) my cam chain tensioners were bad so i went with the upgrade kit and put in new lifters as well. it started right up after putting everything back together, and runs as good or better than before. but my gas mileage has dropped from 40-42 down to 32-35. is there something i could have done to affect my mileage like this? i have put 650 miles on it after puttimg it back together and that is the mileage i got. riding the same as i have rode it for the 31,000 miles i put on it before the tensioners went bad. could i have done something wrong or is this an unrelated problem? thank you for any help

im not an expert on it but what little i know something about setting up the oil pump not just right will let oil build up in the lower case, check it by removing a drain plug under the crank and measuring how much oil comes out, youll have to do a search on the amount unless someone else chimes in.

i drained the crankcase after riding 480 miles, and got out a little less than 8 ounces. is this normal or is this enough that my engine may be wet sumping?

I had pretty much the same bike and engine.... but I had the SE active performance exhaust and stage 1 intake. I averaged 35 mpg. I think it was my right wrist causing the problem....... I would look there first

Ive got an '06 FLHPI with SE Stage 1 cleaner and Bub slip ons - similar problem last tank was 31 mpg - 1 time I have gotten 40 mpg - probably a 35 mpg average in 7k miles. Did a download when I put the cleaner on and it hasnt seemed to help. Drive 70 mph or less and take my time getting there. I understand your angst - know youre not the only one. Still trying to figure something on how to get the mileage up.
