FYI, Oil Slicks
#12
I have been noticing a lot of air conditioner condensation at intersections here in very hot Oklahoma. And I've experienced that it's not just a tire traction problem, a riders foot can slip as well when they put it down.
I went down a couple months age while turning at at an intersection from running over a piece of rubber. I twisted my ankle pretty good and it still hurts when I get up in the morning. Would have been a lot worse if wasn't wearing boots.

The time that I learned that I was allergic to pavement,
was due to an oil spil. Some one that worked for the hi way
dpt. must have lost a 5 gallons buckets of used motor oil. Me

I stay out of the center of lanes especially when at stops and in the rain.
99% of oil leaking ends up in the center of the lanes..

Same thing happened to me about 25 yrs ago. Riding my Honda Nighthawk 550 down a long, sweeping curve when I hit an oil slick in the middle of the road. Like the OP said, happened so damn fast I didn't have time to react. Did a headfirst slide into the guardrail; amazingly the only damage was a scrape on the chinbar of my FF helmet. Not a scratch on the bike. After I emptied the **** out of my pants I picked it up and headed off in the sunset.
