Default Service manuals, some questions

I am new to HD, after reading many posts perhaps it is a good idea to get the service manual. How much are they? Is it well written for an inexperienced person to understand? Thanks.

Best money you will ever spend and I don't recall the price under $75 though. Yes anyone can read it you just have to get comfortable about where to look in the manual. They have a disassembley and assembly section for each item. There is your maitenance in there also buy one for sure!

Best 60.00 will ever spend if want to find out what makes your machine tick and doing your own work on it ..

Yes well written, and you can get them cheaper if you look around some and not in a hurry to get one!!

If you get the actual Harley service manual and not one of the manuals you might find at Barnes & Noble, they run around $60.00. They are very detailed and are very useful for working on and maintaining a Harley. Whether they are useful for an "inexperienced" person is hard to tell. If you mean inexperienced on this particular machine but are mechanically inclined and have a good selection of tools and know how to use them, then the user will understand it. On the other hand if inexperienced means mechanically challenged as in don't know the difference between an Allen wrench and a torx drive, then the user probably won't understand.

Even if you don't do your own work it will help you make sure something you paid to have done was actually done. I see quite a few service manual want-tobes messes on otherwise good bikes. Biggest is messing up torx or Allan heads by using the wrong size wrench.

Definitely good investment...just for the electrical schematics & torque specs alone. Well worth $60...get from HD and ask for discount - got mine 15% off @ sale.
