Tour Pak Lid Organizer Adhesive????

I have the saddle bag orginizer. The problem was- the fujin tape would not stick to the plastic on the organizer. What I did (and it worked 100% AAA+++) was rivet some super thin metal flashng to the plastic back of the orginizer , then used the super #M tape to adhere it to the plastic saddle bag cover.
Alternatly, the 3M super stick tape specifies to use an adhesive promoter on plastic (the plastic orginizer- tape sticks like hell to the HD plastic parts):

Apply 3M Adhesion Promoter # 06396 to the back side of all body moldings and plastic trim prior to application.
Riviting the flashing onto the slick plastic did it for me. You can by different widths of super thin metal flashing, by the foot, at ACE hardware.

Yes, that's what I did...just used the three available. That's your only option. But three hold it very well. A hell of a lot better than ANY adhesive solution. You will have no problems.

I'm trying Locktite brand heavy duty epoxy right now. Packaging indicates it will work on plastic and holds up to 3200 lbs. Anybody else ever try epoxy adhesive? The previous owner used liquid nails and I can tell ya first hand that it doesn't work, but is a pain in the *** to get off the tourpak lid!
I have a Street Glide and the tourpak has that clean look to it. I really don't want to add a rack just to get this stinkin organizer to stay attached. I guess if the epoxy doesn't hold, I'll just scrap the thing.

One thing I noticed on my lid organizers are the orginizers are TOO large to properly fit on the lid. They are cut TOO big and ride up the sides (corner radius) making it impossible for the tape to properly adhere - **** poor HD quality control. The orginizers should be cut smaller than the lid it'self - not larger.
I thought about using windshield polyurethane for automotive glass installation - using primer (promoter) on the lid and orginizer. Once cured it would be permanent. Just have to find a source for it.

+1 Bar none. The VHB tape is used to secure airplane skins on the wings. The **** is bullet proof. At McM-C they have 2 kinds, a thin clear one that is paper thin and the heavy duty one that is .090 thick, this will work on lid organizers. The luggage rack bolts are the best, I never had an issue with the oem tape, but after I ripped off to install a rack I used the bolts.
