I had no problem with the saddle bag lid organizers. Put them on in the winter but brought the bags into the house and let them set a good while after installing them. (I don't understand why HD doesn't make these fit better - they're not the exact shape of the top of the lids). The tour pak organizer is another story because the lid is not flat - in the inside the centre 1/3 is tight against the organizer but the top and bottom (when lid is open) are recessed making a gap where the double-sided tape can't contact both. I tried filling those areas with industrial strength velcro and it works to some extend. I still have a problem with the bottom of the organizer pulling away but I think there is enough grip from those parts that are holding to keep it in place. If not, my next step will be to put one or more of my lid rack bolts through it. For those who have done this, do you have to get longer bolts?
Why can't HD have these made with the backing having the same contours as the lid so that they fit tight against one another?
I didn't even try to use the tape, I just run the tourpak rack bolts through and don't worry about it.
Me too!
Got 4 1/4" fender washers and 4 1/4-20x1 1/4" buttonhead bolts.
Just used the glue strips to hold it in place while I drilled the holes and install the new fasteners.
Ain't going anywhere now.
I have the Air Wing rack with the light in it. Anybody else use this with the lid organizer. What did you do about the post with the wiring in it? Just go with the other 3 through the organizer?
