Highway 12 montana

I'm just 7 miles from the turn-off to Hwy 12 in Lolo, MT. Definitely take the time to make that ride. But let me give you a little warning. Hwy 12 on the Montana side is 70mph, and as soon as you hit Idaho, about 35 miles later, Hwy 12 in Idaho is 50 mph. And it's aggressively enforced. Especially at the top of the pass down past the Lochsa Lodge about 13 miles. It's a couple of hundred miles of winding road with a river along side the entire way. You'll love it. Just be aware of Idaho's finest, looking to put a little more revenue in their pockets. They nailed me just two weeks ago, and I know about it! How stupid is that?

Thanks again guys!! Just did the "long" way form Helena to Lolo....great country and sweepers. Ended up in Lewiston............almost 400 miles of curves/sweepers......about as good as it gets!!
Thank again for the info.
GTRP..........take 279....(off 287/15 just out of Helena)......to 200 to Missoula to Lolo...........long way around, but you miss the interstate and it is a wonderful ride.
By the way...........never saw a HP the whole day.

Now if you think those were nice roads I have some that are even better LOL. I am fortunate to be able to ride this area all the time. I just rode some of them last week that make the Fletcher pass road (279) feel like a straight road LOL. If you are continuing on HWY 12 take the road that turns off at Greer and comes out at Orfino It is a loop and the best loop you will ever take. You will swear that you are going to rear end yourself going around the corners they are that curvy LOL. So many good roads so little time to ride them all in a single day.

you got it. I rode it last week again (usually do it once or twice a year) and giggled like little kid the whole time. Not many roads posted 15mph where they actually mean it LOL.
