Cold weather riders
This is my first winter with my Road Glide and I plan on riding as much as possible as long as their is no snow and not too much sand on the roads. I have been riding to work (100 miles a day) and trying to stay warm. I have found that layers on top have kept me pretty warm but even with long underwear jeans are no good. My legs are cold in a hurry along with my hands.
I figure that I will get some good gauntlet gloves with Thinsulate lining and that will take care of my hands. I have a half mask that covers my neck and up to my nose and that works really well for my face.
My question is do I get something like snow mobile pants or will a good set of chaps break the wind and keep my legs warm?
What do you do? I would like to know from experience rather than experiment and waste $$$$ that could go into the bike or my car.

RE: Cold weather riders
I wear a heated jacket liner under my regular riding jacket, full face helmet with insulated hood ubder it, and leather chaps over jeans and long johns- but its time for a change. I've been looking at insulated bib overalls. Nice and warm, with the added advantage (over snowmobile suits) of being made of a material that doesn't look like its likely to bond with the hot parts on my bike.

Yep, absolutely. Heated jacket liner and gloves will keep you comfortable in very cold temps. Adding some soft lowers to the crash bar will help the legs.

Great stuff, thanks.
I really like the idea of lower fairings (where can I find them?) and heated gloves and Bib overalls (where can I find them?).
I really want to ride all winter if possible and I am pretty hardy but there are limits.
I have been fine with just jeans and longjohns along with regular gauntlet gloves down to about 32 degrees.

I am in NH as well and plan to ride until it snows and then even after it snows. As you know, the snow doesn't always last around here!
I have a car that doesn't see rain or snow either, yet I have kept it on the road all year round since as long as the roads are clear, I drive it.
