Some Questions on my First Oil/Primary/Trans change on my new to me EGC
Well, I know this topic is not very well received, but I want to hear you opinions anyway.
I am thinking of putting Amsoil synthetic 20W 50 in the crank case, ATF type F in the primary, and Castrol synthetic 75W 90 gl5 in the trans.
I am going to buy my supplies tomorrow, so let's hear it, will I be OK with this Combo?

I use Amsoil 20/50 in the engine and primary.
And in the trans I use Amsoil severe gear 75/90.
I will not ever use anything else! Love it!
As for atf, I would stay away. JMO...
HD puts oil in the engine and primary, so do I.
HD puts gear oil in the trans, so do I!
Look up Amsoil info and if you go that route you will be happy for sure!
Smoother, cooler, and imo safer.

If Dawg says it's okay, then it's okay.
If it was me I'd put Mobil 1 15/50 Automotive in the Crank. Mobil 1 Syn gear lube in the tranny and some regular old Dino like Rotella 10-40 in the primary.
I'm not sold on the Amsoil and especially not the price. I bought the Mobil 1 15/50 for $5.95 per qt the other day at NAPA.

I like to run dino oil until around 5000 miles on a new bike. That gives things time to wear-in and break-in, and seat. After that, go for the syn oil. But make sure it's specifically made for motorcycles. Going the cheap route on motorcycle oil is foolish and not recommended. And you wont find any "cheap" real motorcycle-grade engine oil. As is usually the case, you get what you pay for.
