Default Dealer quoted 10 hours to install Monkey Bars..

Does that sound right? I know from reading on here that it does take some time and patience to get the wires ran through the bars, but should I really be looking at spending $850 just to have them installed?? Also, does anyone know a good Independent shop around the St. Louis area? I would much rather not pay dealership prices for work.

You need to get your Monkey *** down to another dealer or an Indy shop....

Yeah, seems steep to me. It does take some time, but not 10hrs at a dealer. When I did my bars, I ran my hand control wires internally so that took time to cleanly solder around 16 wires. The adapter on the end of the wires wouldn't fit through the bars, so I had to cut them and add extensions. Plus, there is time to add extended idle/throttle and clutch cables on my 2005.

Took my amateur *** about 8 hours. That included a few minutes to walk away and have a beer to clam down on a few occasions

I know that the indy who installed mine spent well over 10 hours on the job. He didn't charge me for 10 hours though. The tech that did the install had not done these bars before. It took him way longer than it should have.

Sounds like maybe your dealer has been through the headache of installing these bars before and doesn't want to do it again.

these bars are a bitch, takes way longer than most any other bar, the angled bends are the problem, while 10 hrs is a little high, it most likely will take close to that and they are trying to get paid or have you go away, either way, they will be ok with it. I work out of my garage, and i want 600.00 to do those bars. by the way did a set on my bike, charged myself 700.00 but I'm cheap!! won't pay it!! I don't really want to do any others, have done 3, hope to avoid any more of them, but they do look good once they're on there. only other concern I have is if the throttle switch goes out

What kind of bike? If its an FLH type fairing it is a bitch because of the fairing. Roadking and Roadglides are a lot easier.

mines a road glide, done them on the e-glide as well both are a pain, not because of the bike, but because of getting wiring thru the bar, road glide is a pain because of the speedo housing is hard to get out of the way with the switch wiring and batwing is hard because connectors are buried in the faring
