Dealer quoted me $1100.00 parts and labor to change the bars out on my '09 UC.

It's an '11 FLHX. I think I'll take the extra time to look for an indy in the area... haha

Local indy shop is charging me eight hours to put on LA Chopper's Prime Apes which are very similar to Monkey Bars...

maybe a little long for a dealer. It took me about that time when i done it but i'm not a dealer or indy... Why don't you do it yourself? Maybe it will take you 10 hours but you'll save lot of money

Send them to me, I'll wire them for half that....!

LOL, 10 hours is up there. My dealer was telling me bars installed would be around $1600, including all the parts. I would reckon that they weren't thinking of Yaffe's bars either.

Out the door, I am into bars and everything needed for about $840. I'll do it myself, and spend less than the difference to have my inner PTM'd to Tequila Sunrise. Only way my dealer will see the bike is to bleed the ABS lines.

We had less than 10 hrs into installing a set of our PrimeApes, and that was with shooting a video! Granted, I've done a few bar installs in my day, but 8hrs should be a sufficient billing time. We are editing the install video now, and hopefully between that and our cable kits, it will give guys the ammo they need to tackle this project themselves.

Forget the dealer on this project! It does take a while. I think mine took 8.5hrs without a manual. I put up a post where i broke down how long each step of the project took. It only requires basic had tools(and a couple torq drivers and allen wrenches), and patients!

Yea my local dealer quoted 10 hours at $80/hour to install WO 14s on my 03 RKC. I found an Indy in town that will do it for $300. Shop around.

Bro....do it yourself. It's time consuming but not really very hard. Anyone with basic mechanical skills, a bunch of hand tools, and a manual can knock it out. They did tell you about all the cables, wires, and brake lines you'll have to replace didn't they? All those plus bleeding your brakes adds to the timeline as well as the parts list bottomline. Seriously, do it yourself.....enjoy a frosty cold beerverage when you get pissed at it.

This was one of the upgrades I was wanting to do while my bike was being repaired from an accident. I was quoated 750.00.
Seemed pretty high so I mentioned to the service tech. that my bike was going to be completely disassembled and rebuilt on a new frame.
He acknowledged this fact and still the price was still 750.00.

Appearantly they are trying to discourage anyone from doing this at their shop.
