Been around long enough to remember the bikes needing alot of work....problem is, I don't remember it being so great.
My rigid sporty was nicknamed "The Bitch" by me......I learned to hate that bike....
Personally, I thought it sucked. Pushing your bike down the road in the middle of nowhere in august when it's frigin' HOT out isn't cool, nor great in my world.

When I first test drove my 1584cc Fatboy, it really felt underpowered compared to the 1100cc V-star I had been riding the previous week. Took me a couple of days to realize it just had to do with the way the different bikes were geared and to just move higher up the FB's RPM range.
Oh and FYI - this IS America - I want it all: Heritage, Style, Speed, Cornering, Loading carrying ability, Low Maintenance and Dependability. Yes, this is why I will eventually spend more on modifications than I did on the stock used bike. Peace - Kevin.

Brings smiles to my face; My Dad's first "real" bike was a CB250 - Pearl green and white. My brother in law let me ride the v-star he was selling, because they bought a Stratoliner - what a beautiful machine! I put a freight train nacelle on my fatboy so it would look more like Strat :0 Peace - Kev

The thing of it is, though, most guys that were seriously riding back in the 60s and 70s did learn how to work on their bikes, as a matter of necessity. These days, there are guys who own Harleys who take their bikes to the mechanic for everything, even routine oil changes.

I ride Touring models and this is the Touring section, not the Dyna section, I figured we were talking about Touring models.
I don't ride the Dyna models. So you can be the expert for Dynas.
