Don't get me wrong it has enough power to get you down the road and I'm sure a stage 1 with a cam upgrade will really wake it up.
I couldn't agree more. My 11 limited was a absolute pig as delivered. I came off a 2000 EG with the 88 and I don't think the 103 could have beat the 88. Stage one done and its a big difference. Cams and I think I will be happy. Gas mileage has gotten better and the heat is down. Gutted cat is next, then cams this winter. YMMV

I traded a 08 Fatboy with stage 1 for a 2012 Streetglide last week. Honestly the 103 out of the box runs a little better then my Fatboy. The SG does seem to run hot. I plan to do a way with the CAT and do a stage 1 this winter. All and all I'm pretty satisfied with the trade,

Stage 1 on the RKC made a huge difference in the heat, but not as much difference in noticeable performance like on the 96 motor...still, I am a happy camper with the RKC!
The FLH series motors run(feel) much hotter then the Softail family. Many reasons not all known to us.

Well stated, voice of experiance.

That means, the 103 engine is 7 times bigger and funner than the 96 engine!

Nah, 30 hp won't add as much speed as as you think on these tanks. We"ll be closer than you think. Promise. Drop down to an aerodynamic light sport bike like your CBR then those ponies will let you run off and leave me if I'm on the same light sport bike without the ponies.

My 2011 RK 96 is bone stock. It runs great and is NOT hot. Well no hotter than any motor running between your legs should be.

I've been riding for 40 years and this is the probably the sweetest motor I have ever had. Very good power, and the smoothest throttle response of any fuel injected motor I have ever ridden.

I am sure the 103 is just as good, and a bit better.

I am one happy guy with the 96 though!

I bought my first HD in 07 which was a FLSTF 96" engine. Forum was helpful, and reading and wanting more power, I went with cams, Baisley heads, Feuling lifters and oil pump and other mods to 103 build. traded it in for the 2011 RKC. I got 255 cams and se super duper race tuner and V&H pipes and monster rounds.
Love the RKC. like all the feature. It is hot and maybe the dyno tune will resolve some issues, but the flstf was not a cool runner either.

I will enjoy my new ride, paid for in full. Ride safe all.
