Default Difference in Lowering Kits heights.

I was wondering if some of you guys that have lowered your bikes (touring) could show me some pics, or links to pics, and tell me what kind of lowering system you have on it. I am undecided on whether I should lower my RK just 1.5" like with the Progressive shocks/ front fork spring, or if I should go for the full 2.5" drop like with the Burly Slammer Kit. I ride solo and weigh 170, so I don't think rideability on a low kit will be effected too much. I'm mainly wanting to compare what different hieghts look like before taking the plunge.

I have found a couple pics on the internet through general Google searches, but not much. If there is already a topic of discussion on this with the kind of pics I'm looking for then please direct me to it. Thanks

I can't help with pics. BUT when you use a lowering kit you'll change the angle of the shocks which means a poor ride & handling. shocks work the best with less of a angle. I would try a shorter shock. There are several shock companies to check out. It may cost you some $$$$. I just wanted to point that out. Good luck with whatever you do.

Default shorter shocks

The Burly slammer kit includes a shorter rear shock. The Progressive option I mentioned is also a shorter shock. Would these also effect handling negatively?

Below is mine with both the Harley Front and rear profile lowering.
It's a True story that your ride will be compromised. I switched to the Harley Heavy fork oil. I really like the way the forks feel and the ride up front is good. It' corners like it's on rails. I love it.
Another word of caution.. lowering changes the lean angle when on the jiffy stand. The Harley lowering kit makes the lean angle marginal and I have to be very careful where/how I park. I imagine the Burly slammer kit would make it much worse and probably require some action to restore your lean angle (i.e. bending the jiffy stand) Do a search the subject on "lean angle", possible fixes and things that didn't work have been covered there.

I had mine lowered 2"with progressive drop in front and modified Harley air shocks in back. The ride was very harsh. Raised it up 1/2" for 1.5" of drop with progressive 430s in back. Bike rides and handles better than stock. I installed a wedge on the jiffy stand bracket so the bike wouldn't stand up straight when parked.

Hey guys, thanks for the pics. Now that I see them I think the 2.5 in drop with Burly's would be too extreme. I think I will go with the Progressive 440 11.5in shocks. I've heard good things about them.
