Hello all, leaving for a 5 or 6 day roundtrip leaving with one other guy from Chicago to upstate ny and back, probably stopping in Pittsburgh on the way. Just bought a new garmin 550 and had a boom winshield speaker installed on my 05 flhrs. Had cams and 95 kit done this past winter. With 3 kids and a stressful job, I am ready to roll on this trip. Any thoughts on routes, must see destinations, or anything else would be appreciated! Thanks!

 

Well you just missed the roar on the shore bike rally here in erie,pa. but I think the carlise, pa. bike rally is starting soon, do a search for it cause all I know is a local group heads down there and said it's a good time, I have never been there yet. Ride safe.

 

I just wanted to say enjoy the trip...I just got back last month from an 8 day round trip to the outer banks in north carolina....I have some great roads if you ever decide to do that trip....ride safe.

 

I was on Hwy 6 running west from the turnpike (Scranton) to 219 to then head north back home two weeks ago. Beautiful two laner. Only problem I discovered that there is a mini oil boom happening around Mansfield so it was a few stops to get a room. Check out the Wellsboro Diner and the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon if you end up there.

Be sure to spend some time exploring the Finger Lakes region in upstate NY. Letchworth State Park is cool. If you have time, venture farther north to the Adirondack's. If you like baseball, check out Cooperstown (as long as it's not HOF induction weekend).

 

Oh....and check out the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum in Hammondsport, NY. Cool old motorcyles, cars, and airplanes.

Ride Safe

 

If you have enough time you can do a good circle route through NY hitting the Finger Lakes, then go to Syracuse and head north to Alexandria Bay. Head east to Lake Placid and then back south again. You will have some good secondary roads especially in the mountains.

 

Get a Primanti Bros. sandwich when your near Pittsburgh. Dubois HD has a cool set up in the store.
