Default Not Sure I Like My RineHart True Duals After All

Few weeks ago, I traded my Classic for a new 103 Ltd Ultra. Just had my 1000 mile service & it's still runnin' really hot. I think I might even like the sound of the Rush slip-ons with the 2.5 baffle even better than these Rineharts. What else can I do to cool these babies off a little? I have a Harley Race Tuner & that's about it. My Classic was a little warm, but nothin' like this. I heard some Rinehart True Duals going down the road & thought I liked them, so guess I'll have to have my buddy do a drive-by so I can hear them from the back of the bike.

On my stock limited the heat got a little less after 3,000 miles but it was still hot.Get it tuned from good tuner with a dyno-tune to add more fuel and get the heat down IMHO. Enjoy that's a nice ride.

Did your Classic have lower fairings? If your Ultra has them now and your Classic didn't, that will be a big difference with heat around the motor. I know the newer Ultra's have vented lowers to help air flow. Another option is a fuel management system with an auto tuner. You can set the AFR values to allow more fuel for cooling/perfomance. How is the bike running with the race tuner other than the heat?

Changing your headers will help. They have the Catalytic Converter in them.

Here's one cut in half:

Great picture of the cat cut and what the filter looks like. I am not sure the OP still has the stock header..I was thinking the heat could be from that, but it seems he may have the Rinehart True Dual system which replaces the stock pipe unless only mufflers were done.

Thanks guys. I'm not ready to give up on 'em yet. I'll give it a little time. I'll check on the headers. Also, didn't have lowers on my Classic, but I have vented lowers on this Limited. It's been on the dyno twice --- once before I picked it up, and again last week at 1K service. I have only about 1500 miles on this bike.

Dynoed twice? What does the A/F ratio look like? Is it still lean?

The cat along with reduced air flow because of the lowers will mean a hot bike for sure. Plus you are protected from a lot of wind because of the fairing so it's gonna be warm behind it.

He does not have a cat. true duals he said. I agree about checking the afr table. I cooled mine down by changing my afr's. I did a lot of my own tuning, and she runs great and cooler with my true duals
