From day one the bike made all kind of noise in engine, trans & primary. Traded it in for a 2011 FLTRX 103. I can't believe the different between the 2. The 103 has less noise. At 1K I went with Redline ShockProof because I wanted a trans oil. When I left the parking lot of the dealership I could tell the different after going through the gears. I ran the HD dino oil in engine & HD primary until the 5K svc & then went with Redline in engine & Redline primary. I think you need to look at primary/clutch. I know ater they did my service work there was a different in "WHERE" the clutch grabbed. Good luck
There are lemons and then there are those vehicles that just don't seem to run quite right even though there's nothing really wrong with them, the parts just don't jive.

Instead of changing any fluid, why not re-adjust your clutch yourself. You can do it without draining the fluid by puting the bike on a stand (keeping it upright). Will take longer to get the tools out and clean up the derby cover then it will to adjust the clutch and cable. More then likely, they messed up adjusting the clutch. I just replaced the clutch cable on my bike, re-adjusted the clutch and put in Shockproof. I like the results, still clunks but not as bad, nature of the beast. Seems much quieter to me.

Personally, I tried the Shockproof Pepto looking stuff for the first time 3K miles ago and was very dissapointed. Guess I expected to much but after all the reviews here I thought it would be magical. I much prefer Lucas Synthetic 75 140 gear oil, much better results IMO.

Put Redline Shock proof in last change. Did not notice much if any change. Now that it has a few thousand miles on it trans clicks into gear rather than clunks. Check to see if fluid level is correct (or did they forget to fill trans), clutch adjustment sounds like part of your problem

I don't know what the moco puts in the tranny at the factory but the syn3 is or at least was called syn3 because it was recommended for all 3 holes. I currently run it in the primary and trans and run mobil 1 in the crankcase.

Personally i think the pepto-bismol is over-rated.

Just my .02
syn 3 is called that cuz its 30% syn

Use redline in all 3 and it shifts with much less clunk, runs cooler and over all runs better than it did with se syn 3,plus the package deal from redline was less and you get a funnel and a hat..lol,i think your problem is with the wrench not redline

Larrylives, Do you use the amsoil filter also? I've been reading up on this amsoil sounds real good they have a 25000mi change clam on it if you use the amsoil filter. Have you found this to be true? If not how often do you change yours out?

SantaJim ~ what ratio of Lucas are you running with the Syn 3?

Also, are you using the synthetic Lucas?

Thanks!

Hmmmm...not sure what my options are here....I'm not a wrench so clutch adjustment I'll leave to the guys who know how (or should know how that is) Thee clutch seems to grab at about a 1/4 inch- 1 inch after I start to give it gas at a stoplight.....it was fine the way it was, not even sure why they touched it. Not happy with bike at all after getting it back...like I said balky riding around at low speeds, hard shifts and I'm not even sure they touched the primary....suppose they could have drained and not refilled...the primary cover does not look like it has even been touched.....hard for me to really question them on that though. I don't have a stand to keep bike upright so can't check level myself. They would have had to take the floorboard off right to get at primary?
