Default Skeee-roood by the service department!

Just need to vent here a minute. Ordered a new compensator THREE weeks ago. Didn't hear from the dealer so I called last week. They said it was in. We scheduled the work to be done today. Probably could do it myself, but didn't want to mess with it so I agreed to the 1.5 hrs labor. At their suggestion I dropped the bike off last night so they could get to it first thing today. Meant my wife had to follow me 20 miles to the dealer to drop off yesterday and then drive me 25 miles to work this AM. I called today to check status at 1:30. Was told the tech was just putting it on the table and if I got there just before closing it'd be washed and ready to go. Got a workmate to agree to ride me to the dealer for pick up. We had time to kill so I sprung for a movie (she wanted to see Harry Freaking Potter of all things!). Get to the dealer just before closing. Don't see my bike. Why? They hadn't started it. Why? Because the part wasn't in. I. Went. Nuts. Why did you tell me the part was in? "I don't know." Why does it take you three weeks to get something in that I could have gotten off eBay in three days? "I don't know." Why did you schedule the service with no part? "I don't know." Why didn't anyone tell me when I dropped it off last night--or called to check status today--that there was no part? "I don't know." Why didn't anyone call me today to tell me nothing was being worked on? "I don't know." Got a refund for the part pre-payment and told them what they could do with their dealership. Funny thing is (well not really), when I dropped off, the service counter was filled with guys complaining about their bikes. The guy ahead of me today was complaining about his work not being done. They just don't get it. Legacy. Repeat buyers. Word of mouth. That's what keeps these indies in business.

Thanks for listening. It's Miller time.

Biker Bob's in Taylor, MI. Stay away...

A few years ago, a local dealer was blowin' out their Power commanders at a real good price so I called and made an appointment to have one installed. I burned a vacation day and rode through rush hour traffic and freeway construction just to be there at 0700. At about 7:30, the service writer tells me that the PC wasn't pulled for the job so I'll have to wait until the parts guy gets there. The parts guy gets there at 8 and says they're all out of PCs. I didn't yell or scream but when the service writer asked what they could do for me, I calmly told her, "nothing - ever". And they haven't seen my bike since then.

The thing to do after you've made the decision to stop using the dealership is to call the manager everytime you spend $ somewhere else so he knows each time he's lost a buck

Sounds familiar. After writing a 3 page letter and forwarding it to the owner, service manager, and general manager, met with the service manager and had a civil discussion on their lousy communication and customer service incompetence. Haven't had a problem since, but if I can possibly tackle the job, I avoid the dealership like the plague!

My local dealership use to be that way, so they got rid of thier service writter (hybitual lier).
But that was 2 years ago and they still are having a hard time getting customers back.

At least you got to go to a movie with a female coworker.
Dont think that would fly with my wife!

I would be pissed if I had to take my bike into the dealer in the first place. If I did, and that happened, it would pretty much infuriate me. Yeah and whats with the Harry Potter movie?
