OK then, Formula Plus it is. I guess I will put it in both the primary and trans. I may just go with the Syn 3 for my oil, I can just get it all from dennis kirk, or the local dealer and not have to make a trip to find Amsoil. Should be set with lubes.
I am also going to change my plugs. any notable difference going with Iridium plugs? Also the service manual calls for greasing the steering head bearings, can I just use a general purpose grease?

I use Redline in all 3 - 20/50 in crank, Shockproof in tranny and MTL in primary.
Plugs - I would stick with Harley plugs but thats me just me.
Grease - Just use a high temp grease. I use the Harley (blue) grease and have very few drips even in Florida temps. Just make sure to wipe as much excess off the steering head as you can when finished.

I just did my 5k with Amsoil 20/50 in all 3 holes. So far so good. I went back and forth about gear lube, but, in the end, I like the simplicity of one oil in all 3 holes. I ordered from Amsoil directly online - MUCH cheaper than buying at the dealership. If you order online, make sure to add their preferred membership program - costs $10 and saves a bunch on oil, etc.
