Default J&M Rokker kit

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on the speakers (no amp) for my RGC. Just wondering if any of you have it and would/wouldn't recommend it.

I think John @ J&M will agree with me as well as most others. If you ad the speakers you will get an increase in audio quality with a little more usable volume. I just like many others here have done, added just speakers because we thought that would be enough. No matter what type of speaker upgrade you do, none of them will really ROCK until you add some power. The HK head unit is a GREAT unit, but is only capable of so much output. Putting a speaker that is capable of handling a ton of power and then driving it without much power is like building a super kick *** muscle car and putting a 125 horse V6 in it. I really think yoiu will be happy with your upgrade, but don't expect EXTREME sound reproduction without adding some power. I'm not an audio specialist or anything, just trying to help out.

Yeah I know for the best performance you need to push them with an amp I just cant see spending close to $1000 on a sound system for my bike. I was just wondering how much of an improvement over stock I can expect, without the amp(for now). I got reading the sticky thread about the Rokkers and it turned into a bitch fest so I stopped reading. I listen to mostly hard rock/metal so there tends to be quite a bit of bass that the stock speakers just cant handle past half volume. Just looking to upgrade, thanks for the response.

Just installed Rokkers and a Bazooka 200.4 amp in my RGU. This combo rocks! Much louder, much clearer, much more bass than stock....

If you like music it is a wothwhile mod!

Here is little review I did...

If you shop around you can find the Arc Mini or one of it's clones (Elf / Wet Sounds etc.) for $150... It's worth every penny. The depth and clarity added by the amp's overhead along with the additional POWER will be noticed.

You really need the amp to enjoy the speakers. My elf amp went out and I'm running them off the HK unit for now & there's no comparison. The HK unit does not have enough power to drive the speakers as speed increases. Speakers are great though.

Sound is subjective. Try to find someone near you to listen to theirs. There is absolutely no reason to have to spend $1000 to get good sound. Find an arc mini, and get some good Polk DXi or MM speakers and adapter rings. You'll spend less than $500 if you shop and it will sound great.

I'm ditching my J&Ms and HogTunes amp for some Hertz 6.5s and an Arc amp from Firecap501. The J&Ms were a noticeable improvement over stock, but didn't remotely compare to the quality and volume I heard from the Arc/Hertz combo; and that was in a bat wing. The Road Glide faring allows the speakers to breathe more for better bass response. I spoke with Firecap this week, found a local bike with the same setup, and sent my funds this morning. I'm looking forward to the install.

BTW ,,, we will be releasing a new ROKKER II video next week, (just in time for Sturgis) which shows the J&M 2011 RoadGlide Ultra with a beautiful 6-speaker, 500w audio system, ((7.25" in the fairing, 7.25" in the lowers & 5.25" ROKKERS in the rear pods)) ,,,,

http://www.jmcorp.com/SeeProducts.asp?PF=45 ,,,,

it is THE most impressive audio system I have heard to date on a Harley (or ANY motorcycle) ,,,,,,, it is very intense, good bass, good mids and crystal clear highs ,,,,

the system is so impressive that were are going to have an audio system performance contest at the J&M trailer, parked at Black Hills HD in Rapid City, during the Sturgis rally ,,,,

anyone can bring their bike to the trailer during business hours, we will use the identical J&M demo CD for the test and evaluation by any customers that are around ,,,,

if any system performs better (in the majority opinion of the bystanders) than J&M's ROKKER II, we will give them a $100 credit toward the purchase of any J&M audio product ,,,,
