Shocks - HOW BAD SHOULD THEY BE?
#13
I just rode 9,500 miles from Dallas to Alaska and a long loop back through Sturgis and the Black Hills. I rode the worst imaginable roads on stock HD air shocks pumped to 50lbs, but I had a great Mean City Cycles seat mod. I had considered installing Ricors or Ohlins before the trip. I know now that I don't need them.

Shocks are one of the most frequent topics on here. If you use Search you will find numerous threads. I read through a great many and one thing struck me, that almost any shock seems to be fine for riding solo, but the rules are different when 2-up.
So I started taking notice of HDF members who have solved the problem of riding 2-up. Some of them have tried several brands of shocks, but a common result is that many ended up with Ohlins. I decided life is to short to work my way through a lot of shocks, so bought Ohlins. There may be other shocks that can give a good ride, but that didn't come out in my reading on the subject.
Phone Howard at HDF sponsor Motorcycle Metal, he custom builds them to fit you and your wife.
