Here's a thought, simple perhaps, but are the displacement increases causing the cooling problems? Why go bigger and bigger? Seems like that is driving the need for more and more cooling. Guessing that's what people are asking for. My tc88 had enough for me, but obviously some folks want more.
I agree, the push for bigger motors is pushing them to being liquid cooled. Not sure the need for it, I found my 80ci was plenty of power, and my 96 is over kill.

I'll take a 96" with good cams any day over a camless 103". Bigger displacement doesn't mean squat to me. Maybe the guys buying the 2,300cc Triumph Rocket III believe they'll get laid more often?

Has anyone tried Kawasaki's new Viquaro(spelling?) I thought that was a liquid V-Twin. I saw one on the road last week but did not get to talk to the rider. It seems like a good bike to compare against the HD touring bikes.

Just put it on in April or so.

They make two different versions for touring bikes. The older version does not hook to the oil temp gauge, but the newer version does.

How does the new one connect to the oil temp gauge? I just got one and it senses the oil temp in the oil adapter, leaving the hex plug port open for the gauge. I'm planning on installing a temp gauge while I'm at it. Did you have those reversed?

I restate a previous question: Does a 25* decrease in engine temp reach the 20-30% decrease in emissions required by the 2013 EPA requirements?

missing the point, emission standard reduction will increase heat so in the end the temp will most likely be the same as now with increased cooling

No, simply lowering your oil temp 25 degrees as with a cooler, will not reduce emissions.

Reduced emissions has nothing to do with cooling down the motor, on the contrary, clean = lean = hot!

Interestingly enough, I haven't heard much about the factory placement of the oil coolers. Right there under the regulator rectifier which also does not like heat. I'd like to track the heavily ridden 103 up motors for a period of time to see what the failure rate is on the rectifier.

If you have ever road a Rocket and got on the throttle you will find you dont need to get laid after the ride......
