Default Street Glide vs Road King, question for those who know..

Hello everyone,

I have a question...

I'm looking at 2011 model year, is the suspensision systems the same on these two bikes?

Besides the seats, and the front fairings are these two bikes the same?

thanks!

Even with the same shock size the Road King will have a smoother ride, I have both and have switched shocks on both of them. Hands down if you are looking for a smooth ride with two up go with the King.

My husband has a 2011 RK and I just bought a 2011 SG. It's amazing to us that the difference is the lowered shocks on the SG because the bikes really ride and handled differently. For us, the RK is MUCH better for riding 2 up. I bought the SG though because it just fit me perfectly and I love how it handles. I know, same bike but...... Good luck on your search.

As said by others, the SG is a sexy fairing bike, but between the seat and the lower suspension, it does not ride like the RK. One of the advantages of the RK is, it is versatile. If you like a fairing you can get a removable batwing fairing. If you like tunes, HD had speaker kits for the windshield. If you like that "fat boy" look, you can change the bike in seconds and still have the ride of an electra glide.

SG has a firmer ride than a RK. I demoed a RK and found the ride softer or smoother. I like the ride of the SG but my wife isn't too happy back there. 1 inch of shock travel makes a big difference.

You can buy a RK & spend thousands to make it look/function like a SG, but you can buy a SG & add $500 shocks to make it ride like a RK...your choice...

I traded my SG last year to go back to a RKC. Even after switching to 13" shocks the ride was just not the same as the RK. Two up riding with the wife was just too harsh for both of us.
