So here's the verdict on my yellowstone riding experience on my 07 RG and the 3-3 Ohlins.

I weigh 188 lbs and ride the RG 90% solo and 10% 2up. My wife usually rides her own soft tail. For my requirements, Howard set me up with the yellow coil over springs on the 3-3s

I rode the bike solo the week before the trip and I thought the shocks were a bit stiff. The solo preload did not need any tweaking at all after 600 miles, my total sag remained the same. Rebound dampener set at 13 clicks.

For the trip, the sag was good for 2 up after I adjusted the preload about 1.5 turns. We got on the highway and quite frankly, I forgot about the shocks for a second... until we hit the bumps and noticed the CONTROL. There was a huge improvement, 2 up, first bump. First thing I said to the wife was: "hey so you think the new shocks are any better" and she said "OMG WHAT A DIFFERENCE!" She loved them right away. Then she said: "How much were they?" and I said a little under $800. I expected silence or some lame comment but she said "wow they were worth every penny." I knew right then it was going to be a GREAT 3 day ride. They shocks surprised the more we rode.

We rode with 9 other bikes, mostly SGs, RGs, and soft tails 3 days 1200 miles. For the first time I noticed the banging of the other 2up riders when they hit the rough spots. The ohlins absolutely mastered the bumps... nothing sharp, no bangs, just incredible, controlled dampening.

Riding solo is no longer harsh.

Yea, they were worth every penny. Thanks Howard... I too am in line for the fronts when they come out.

There's quite a queue forming, I suspect!
