Yes "slip ons" are the muffler. They are held on with two bolts and one clamp. They will just pull off.
That is the cheapest thing to do and you won't need to do anything else.

However it will be even louder once you change out the headers too because that is where the Catalytic Converter is.
It is very restictive. Here's one cut in half:

Hey, you might just try cutting the cat out of the pipe you already own for a bump in noise volume, that will actually be cheaper than slip ons, then go from there if it's still not loud enough for ya. My bad, I already told you that in the first reply to your post.

When I was researching my Stage 1 setup, the best advice I received was to go to rallys or other places where you can hear other people's bikes and see what you like and don't like in reference to the exhaust. Trying to listen on YouTube or whatever is a waste of time. One day I'm riding, pass this guy who was on a Ultra Classic getting ready to turn onto the street I was already riding on, and was blown away when I heard him turn out behind me!! We both pulled into the gas station and I asked him what he was running and he told me Rhinehart True Duals. I then proceeded to purchase them for my 09 RKC, an S&S teardrop and TTS mastertune and let's just say I'm a happy camper. Guys in my club love the sound. Slipons are ok, but you will do your motor justice by doing a Stage 1, for your motor already runs very lean and hot. All together the cost was around $1600. My opinion would be to save your money and do that upgrade, but I understand that not everyone has that kind of money. Just my 2 cents. Ride hard and ride safe!!
