Default Just venting a bit

Been traveling a lot for work and haven't been riding too much for the past couple of months. Been missing it big time. I'm back in the saddle, but noticed some oil under the bike. Brought it in for service and had to have the stator replaced. I also had a calapsed motor mount. $600.00 later and I'm taking it home. Still leaking, but now it's gear oil, not motor oil. I saw this leak when I brought it in and was surprised the shop didn't address it originally. It's back in the shop... I bought this bike used 2 years ago for about $5000.00. Great price, but I've put about $3000.00 in it since. Biggest expense was the cam gear conversion. Should have it back in a couple days.
Hope everyone has an awesome 4th of July. To all service members... THANK YOU!

+1 on the clamp bolts, awhile back I had My bike serviced and about a week later a leak started there. Don't understand why the tech's don't check them during the service.

I think it's the inner primary seal. I should know sometime tomorrow. Have a nice night.

This shop is quick... I hope they're thorough. 5th gear seal was bad. Replaced all seals behind it. Hoping this is the end for a while. bike feels great. I did see oil under it, but I'm hoping that it was just some residual spill. Have a great weekend!

Your story is haunting familiar to what happened to me. A couple years ago, I found what I thought to be oil under my 2002 Road King. The dealer informed me it was gear oil and replaced the inner primary gasket and all other seals and gaskets associated with the primary. The bike ran fine for the rest of the season and it seemed that the leak was gone. The following summer my transmission failed without warning four hundred miles from home. Since I’m not a mechanic I won’t pretend to be able to tell you what exactly happened but the service invoice I have lists the 5th gear mainshaft as being replaced. I hope all goes well with your repair and you don’t need to have this problem looked at again.
