Default Starter won't disengage

Rode out for supper, sitting at a stoplight and I hear the starter kick in. We pulled into a parking spot and now the starter runs as soon as I flip the "run" switch. 07 flhx.

Sounds to me like either the handle bar button is shorting, or the starter relay, solenoid, is bad.

Also if the starter drive gear gets stuck in the start position it actuates the relay automatically and causes the starter motor to engage all the time.

Just happened to mine. Had to replace the stop-run and start switch on the handlebar. Makes the starter engage when only the ignation was on without hitting start button.

Came out after eating and looked over the connections to the starter...everything looked good. I fired her up and everything was great for about 2 minutes, then the starter came back on. We pulled over and I unhooked the seloniod wire and the starter stopped.

Right now I'm thinking I have a bad start switch or relay.
I cant figure out what could make the starter engage itself when the bike gets warmed up.

Same here. Had it replaced under extended warranty last year.

I had that problem, it ended up being the starter button, and some other switch was hooked to it too. under 40 dollars for the parts and not hard to install

I just left my solenoid wire in the hole and not connected, when i wanted to start it I'd push the wire in a little until it started and then pull it back out, got by with it til I could get the parts and fix it.
