Yeah that's a lot to put her through in 6th. Sounds like she did okay though. Glad you had a great trip, and excellent pic. Great looking bike.

80 mph is better than a (bone stk) 88.

The day I rode my friend's 06 Ultra, I had to drop into 4th to (hold) 65 mph on a similar hill w/some pretty strong wind. Hell, my Heritage would go up that hill at 100, like nuthin !!!

Recant;

Not a slam on the Ultra at all!! Probl the most comfortable motorcycle I've ever ridden. Just (in stock form) a gutless wonder.
We all know how easy it is to fix that.

Just got back today from North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Rode the BRP and many other rides on my Ultra Limited Red/Merlot. It did all that I asked. Great bike.

Full stage1 and that issue is history.

Been there, done that.

You can make a huge improvement in it's areodynamics by installing the upgraded tour pac hinges on the left side.....then you will surely fly up those grades....

That's why I did a gear change on mine, not for everyone but when I give it gas in any gear it goes. Looks like good riding out there.

Then again ... if you got to run at 80+mph into a 40mph wind up an 8% grade I'm not sure there's much that won't hit limit. ;-)

A quick shot from the road of the bike in the pine trees east of Boulder, UT, at about 9000 feet. I love taking this bike on trips!

lugging big time

Hognot's got it right - those hinges are the key. But to maximize their effect, you also need to ride with your mouth closed for aerodynamics!
