What is EZ-Shifter? Guess I am in the dark on that one.

I always prefered the toe shift, but now out of necessity (artificial left leg) I had to have a cut off break pedal welded onto the shift lever in a reverse fashion on my '05 1200C. Now all my shifts are down. But I do have to pick up the leg and punch the right one sometimes gets a little confusing if I don't pay attention. After 40 some years of toe shift I really have to think about it. Wish they had a little light on the spedo to let you know what gear your in, because with the loud pipes I can't always hear it click, and I sure can't feel it.

Didn't know if I would like the heel shifter after upgrading from the Softail, but after just a few weeks, I love it and would not want to go back to just a toe shifter.

Ride on.

EZ-Shift & EZ-Brake move the pedals lower and are longer than stock. They provide a lot more foot room and I can hit the pedals by simply pivoting my feet, not lifting them totally off the floorboard.

Pics attached. I laid the stock shifter on the floorboard for comparison.

I had always used a toe shift until I borrowed a friends GoldWing. It had a heel toe shift. I hated it. I was not used to it and found it very cumbersome. When I got my Glide it came with the heel toe and I was just about to jerk it off. But before I did I decided to give it a fair shake. So I used it the way it was for a couple of weeks and got used to it. A few weeks later my heel lever stripped the spline teeth and landed on the floor board. I was able to keep moving by just using the toe but had to think about it. After that I replaced the heel and decided that the heel was good so I stuck with it. I like it because it keeps my leg moving around so that it doesn't go numb.

In my opinion the heel shifter is dangerous, I know several people that have stopped at stop signs and had the heel shifter catch the boot or even pant leg preventing them from putting their foot down and of course tipping the scoot over. Also if you have a shoe size any bigger than the average 8 year old it is a tight fit. Do yourself a favor and ditch the heel shift.

I'm a toe shifter and I think the heal shifter is to hard on the tranny. The next time your riding next to a heal shifter rider watch how hard he shifts with his heal compared how hard you shift with your toe. JMO RK

My first experience with the heel/toe shifter was with my 99 Electra Glide Classic. Hated it at first, but got used to it.
The salesman told me he uses the heel shifter to keep the toe of his boots from getting scuffed up. [sm=interesting.gif]
I mostly use it for speed shifting. [sm=gears.gif]

I use both the toe and the heel shifters,,, but that being said I can take or leave the heel shift,, I adjusted the toe shift to allow my boot to fit under it easily and the heel to allow minimal raising of the leg,,, don't think about using either one now, just do it,,,,
