Default S&S Exhaust with V&H Fuelpak

I have S&S "Quiet Tour" mufflers and a K&N air filter (full unit, not just element) on my otherwise stock '06 Ultra. I have a Fuelpak to compensate for the fuel. So far, I'm not too pleased with the fuelpak. I can't find a map that gives any real performance. Anybody have any experience with these pipes? It just doesn't "dig in" when you try to get on the hwy. Has a very flat power band. I'm trying to avoid trashing a new fuel pak but am about to replace it after only about 2 months. Any suggestions (other than to get a PC)?

Have you followed the website instructions for finding a map for your configuration? If you haven't found a map for your exact configuration, call V&H and tell them your problems. If you don't get any satisfaction that way, put the FP on Ebay and get the Techlusion TFI/DFO which is basically an electronic jet kit that will allow you to add fuel at various power points. There is a Fuel Moto option for a PCIII that comes programeed for your configuration with all their maps available the initial program doesn't work out. These options are all under $300.

Next step up is going to put you in the $600-$800 range, plus another $300 for dyno time which, IMHO, is overkill for a Stage I upgrade.

Done all that. Fuelpak has offered several map choices and even modified one for me. Just a real pain when I have to call them for every little change. Was hoping somebody has already been thru this and could help. I'm rapidly leaning toward getting a Power Commander and giving up on this Fuelpak ... just too cheap to do it without a lot of aggravation (so far I'm at the moderate amount of aggravation stage).
I agree ref the SE "orange box" which is in the $800 range once you allow for dyno time ... not worth it for my needs.

Check out the Techlusion unit I mentioined. Lots of Stage I guys run them, easy intsall, no dyno time and you can make changes on your own. I don't like the Power Commanders because they are a piggy back system; with the exception of the new Vision unit. If dyno time was an issue for me, I would look at the TMax with auto tune. Pricey, like the others but saves you $$ in dyno time if/when performance upgrades are made, i.e., different exhaust, cams, headwork, etc. Zippers has great customer support; many satisfied customers.

This Techlusion unit looks promising. Not too much $$$ and works like a carb adjustment. I never had any probs with my 87, 01 or 02 that had a carb. Was always able to figure out the jetting (low, high and needle) regardless of my pipe and AC combination. Thanks.

Hey djl ... it's now been about 1000 miles since I put in the Dobeck unit. I can't thank you enough. This is fantastic. Nuisance to install unless you have tiny fingers but it runs like a top. Simple to tune. Took me 3 tries and it's perfect. Power at all rpm ranges and good gas mileage. And best of all Dobeck gave me a military discount and it only cost me $155. Thanks again for the advice.
