Default So who has had a 96 and a 103?

I am looking at a new bike, and one with the 103. I am wondering if there is anyone who has already made the switch that can tell me a couple of things. How much more power does it have? Is it really noticable? What is the difference in gas mileage? Also, Does it run any hotter?
Thanks in advance for the info.

I just bought a street glide with the 103 in it. I have yet to take it for a ride to to injury fro the accident that totaled the 07 road king with the 96. I can tell you with the same pipes as the road king it sounds diffrent. I mean same as I took them off the road king. I was told that u will notice the power diffrence in the low end a lot more not so much the top end.

Biggest gain in power for the least amount of money is a Big Bore.

The 88 to 95 inch ( 99-06) conversion is the same pieces/parts as the 96 to 103 ( 07 and up -longer stroke.)

It's been around for 12 years and is considered bulletproof.

I had a 08 streetbob with 96 motor and now have a 11 roadking classic 103...And the stock 103 made noticeably more power than the 96 with a stage 1 on it...when I added the stage 1 to the 103 it got even stronger...I say it was worth the money...No dyno tests, just seat of the pants...as far as fuel mileage...I don't keep track, I see it like this, whatever the fuel mileage is I am going to ride it and fill it up when empty, so why bother to keep track...but it seems both bikes are in the mid 30's maybe low 40's on the open road....

I had a '10 96" Ultra and have a 1000 miles on a bone stock '11 103" Ultra LTD.

There is VERY little difference in power when both are bone stock.....I can feel a tad more "pull" from the 103, but it is minimal.

I wanted the 103 cause I had a feeling all the touring bikes for 2012 were gonna be 103........are they?......not sure we no yet, been too busy to know....LOL.

I cant tell any difference in heat........but with the stock CAT in that head pipe, its hard to tell the diff between a million deg and a million and 20 degrees......LOL.

Had an EG Classic 96 for 2 years. Just picked up my 103 Ultra last week. No real noticeable differences. Mine's running pretty hot right now, but I'm not concerned. I'll get back on the dyna & try to get it richened up a little, at my 1000 mile service. Have Rinehart True Duals on it also.

Here's the kicker, if you buy the 96 and want more power, a stage II with pipes + dyno tune is the way to go. If you buy a 103 and want more power, you add pipes, cams, and a tune. It's much cheaper. With this setup I pull 100 hp/105 ft/lbs of torque on my 2010 Limited....

I just completed a 2000 mile ride with a buddy who rented a 2011 Ultra limited 103. See my sig for my mods. Starting from a stop he was right with me through the gears. We didn't figure the mile per gallon during the trip (normally I get about 40mpg) but on a tank of gas he was getting 20 to 30 more miles than I was.
