Default Antenna relocation

Hello. I would like to add a Detachable Two-Up luggage rack(#54215-09) on my`11 SG. Does anyone know if it`s really mandatory to re-locate the antenna? I`ve seen a few pics of SG w/ this rack, and it looks like the antenna is in its original position. Thanks.

Was it the full-length stock antenna or the shortened HD antenna accessory?

my antenna just clears it to the side an inch or so... would only be in the way if whatever was on the rack overhangs it.. and when on rough roads etc it would brush the rack wearing the covering on it away... so a piece of rubber hose would be needed, relocate it or get a short flexible one from autozone.

for the little bit i'll be using the rack and what i'm carrying i'm gonna live with it myself... especially if a cloth bag etc is on the rack.. it won't wear enough to cause any damage

kinda hard to tell but it's not directly behind the rack. next to it...

hope this helps.. just happened to have this one on my phone. if needed i can get a better one when i get home.

If you do decide to relocate your antenna I have a never used kit #76208-07.

If you decide to get a inside fairing antenna. May I suggest going to Advance Auto, etc,
and get the same antenna for about 1/2 price of what the dealers sells. (HD or other MC brands) It's the same antenna but for around $20-$25 bucks.

Ride Safe.

When I bought my tour pack it came with the antenna relocation kit. I first mounted the tour pack with the antenna in the stock location just to see if it cleared and it did not. It wasn't even close. So, I moved the antenna to the new spot on the tour pack. After only about 5 or 6 moves between the locations while taking the tour pack on and off, the threads inside the antenna are shot and it won't even begin to mount anymore. I figured a new one might do the same, so based on other posts here I ordered the hidden antenna off eBay. It should arrive this week. If it doesn't work well, I'll buy a short antenna from the dealer and be very careful mounting it to ensure I don't strip the threads this time.

I relocated the antenna under the front fairing and it works great. I bought it at the dealer but it wasn't a HD part YB is right to check out the local auto parts store or a car stereo shop
